With a program titled “May my heart in tune be found,” Social Band sings to the forces of grace and the virtues of gratitude in its fall concert series. Social Band will perform at the library on Saturday, November 5 at 7:30 pm.
Among its varied selections, Social Band will present William Byrd’s six-part setting of “Haec Dies” along with an earlier, more reflective setting of the same text by Jacob Arcadelt. And with Social Band’s signature mix of old and new, this 25-member choral group will premiere new works by two of their beloved “in-house” composers, Bruce Chalmer and Don Jamison. Chalmer’s piece “Dreamers” asks us if we “can accept the gift of sight.” Jamison’s piece is a setting of the Wordsworth poem “The Tables Turned.”
Social Band combines powerful singing, food for thought, and a characteristic “joie de vivre.” Join us as we come together for a program of song and poetry.
Admission is by suggested donation of $15. Tickets are available at the door. For more information, visit www.socialband.org or call (802) 355-4216.
