After teaching physics for 39 years and never taking an art class in high school or college, Richmond resident Larry Hills discovered a passion for landscape painting and a talent he never knew he possessed. Landscape painting is a natural fit with his lifelong interest in nature and spending time outdoors. For the past two summers he has painted plein air, gradually overcoming his self-consciousness about other people seeing him work. Locals will recognize many of the scenes depicted in the pieces hanging at the library during the month of October.
